Truist
Web App Design / UX Design / Illustration
Truist was born from BB&T bank and Suntrust bank merging into a new company, now serving over 15 million customers as America’s 9th largest bank.
I was challenged to design their brand new banking web app.
Create consistency.
Truist has 3 audiences each with a different dashboard: personal, business, and enterprise.
I defined the navigations IA for all 3 audiences.
Another way we created consistency was through a flexible, component based design system.
Make it feel human.
I wanted to create a banking experience that felt human in the images used.
This shouldn’t be something to brag about, but in the banking world, it is.
And just to show you how creative I am, here’s a cute lil’ piggy I made for a modal.
Outcomes
Mobile First 🥇
I lead the other web design teams into a mobile-first mentality. We modeled our mobile web experience after iOS and Android patterns.
Foundational 🏔
This project set the tone for the design system, creating a foundation for Truist to build on.
QA System 💸
I created a trackable system for QA and designers, which led to less defects, greater accountability and overall time (and money) saved.
Unified Brand 🟣
I also worked with designers in other parts of the company to ensure our product was unified, always advocating for consistency.
ADA Accessible 🔍
I worked alongside accessibility experts to ensure we built a product that could be used by everyone, from the colors we chose to the way it was coded.
Mentoring ☺️
I mentored junior teammates throughout my time at Truist, helping with morale, design specifics, and handling an at times difficult and stressful environment.
